Recycling
We take it apart instead of burying it.
California already collects a recycling fee when someone buys a new mattress. That’s the Bye Bye Mattress program. We do the part most people don’t want: the carrying. The coils get reused as metal. The foam becomes carpet pad. The fabric gets shredded.
- We don’t leave mattresses in alleys or canyon pull-outs.
- If it’s wet or twisted, we bag it. We don’t take a mattress we know has bed bugs. If we find them on a job, a bio fee may be added.
- The city still takes them free at Miramar Landfill, weekdays 7–3, if you can get it there yourself.
Neighbors
What neighbors say after we leave.
Booked at nine, it was gone by lunch. Third-floor walk-up. They didn’t scuff a thing.
King mattress and an ancient box spring. I pointed at the bedroom and sat on the balcony.
Quoted $69, charged $69. That shouldn’t feel rare, but it did.
